Wetland Plant Identification - Intro - Portage, Wisconsin, 09/27/2012

Course Description:

This one-day introductory course combines classroom and field training that introduces participants to Upper Midwest wetlands and common wetland plants. It covers how to identify common wetland types and representative plants and degraded wetlands in the field. Participants will be able identify common wetland plants using botanical manuals and floras including the following groups: woody plants (including winter condition), herbaceous dicots, grasses, sedges, rushes and other monocots. Plant morphology, terminology, and identification are also covered. Field assessments will focus on visiting typical degraded agricultural wetlands to identify common wetland plant species.
