Course Description:

Underground agricultural drainage systems (drain tile) are common in the Midwest landscape. Properly designed, these systems can greatly improve crop yields. This one-day intermediate-level course introduces the main concepts of drainage system design, from determining grid spacing to flow rates and the need for and placement of venting systems. Students completing this course will have a solid understanding of drain system concepts and design, and can use this information to work with landowners to either enhance existing systems or to break current systems for wetland restoration projects.
