Course Description:
NOTE: Due to low enrollment, this course has been cancelled. A new section is being planned for Southwest Wisconsin. Contact Kevin Erb (920.391.4652) for details
Course Description:
The carbonate bedrock and highly permeable sandy soils that underlay a significant portion of Wisconsin's agricultural production areas present unique challenges. Sinkholes, low filtering shallow soils, closed depressions and fracture traces increase the challenge of protecting Wisconsin's groundwater.
Topics covered include recognizing sensitive features in the landscape, online tools for mapping and finding features, understanding the science of groundwater movement and infiltration in these situations. Designed for agency staff, the session will also be beneficial for consultants and others working with livestock operations.
