Conservation and the 2008 Floods - Baraboo, WI, 7/23/08

Course Description:

How did our typical conservation practices fare in a 100+ year flood? Hosted by LCD/SWCD staff in the hardest hit areas of Sauk County, this one-day field session will take students on a tour of a number of cropland, forested and pasture sites, where you will be able to view firsthand how our typical BMPs fared. Lessons learned in this event will help you design and install practices that are better able to withstand high intensity runoff events. Highlights include: Long-term no-till fields with minimal erosion, deep gullies and significant topsoil movement on conventional fields and the Lake Delton site.
