Course Description:

Biennial grazing professional development meeting, scheduled for September 12/13/16 at the Marshfield ARS. September 12th is open to all grazing professionals and we’re including NRCS, LCD, RCD, etc. in addition to extension professionals. Day 2 is more researcher/agent presentations and Forage Team Update Meeting.

September 12 – Marshfield ARS North Farm
• 9:00 – Jason Cavadini – Welcome & intro
• 9:15 – Bill Kolodziej – Grazing in Marathon County
• 10:15 – Adam Abel/Matt Akins – Grazing dairy heifers
• 11:15 – Chelsea Zeigler/Mark Renz – Clover in grazing systems
• 12:00 – lunch from Severt’s in Stratford
• 1:15 – Cavadini Farm (?) – Pasture walk; Kolodziej and Abel on grazing planning and design
• 3:00 – Arnold Farm – Tour of dairy grazing operation

September 13 – Marshfield ARS South Farm
• 9:00 – Valentin Picasso-Risso – Improving resilience in grazing systems
• 10:00 – Wayne Coblentz/Geoff Brink – Grazing research update, Gamagrass
• 11:00 – Additional presentation (Matt Akins) OR Team Forage meetings
• 12:00 – lunch from Baum’s Mercantile in Pittsville
• Team Forage meeting and Agent Presentation
